The ring will not fit, to that I’m resigned,
To make it do so would change the design,
So pretty this ring, with sentiment divine,

A proud Mum decided to give her daughter a very special wedding day surprise gift. We came up with the final design together which we then made up hush hush. It’s a white gold ring with all the birthstones of her family in, which was presented on the big day, just in case it wasn’t emotional enough!!!

Just had a husband bring in his wife on their anniversary, but she definitely wasn’t expecting what she got!! He had secretly got us to make a gold version of a costume ring she had been wearing for many years as a wedding ring. She loved the old ring well enough, but he wanted her to have the real deal, and what a lovely surprise to be given on your anniversary!!

We have had quite a few bespoke jobs to do in the workshop over the last couple of months, I think it’s about time I showed a few! This is just a small snapshot of the kind of things we can make, and we start with a lady who had wedding rings from her Mum, Dad and grandma. We made her a ring that she will wear from all three! Here’s the “before”!

A big character needs big jewellery, that’s what she told me! With that in mind, we designed her a pair of drop earrings that would fit the bill, and made them from scrap gold and unwanted gold jewellery she already had but no longer wore. She loves them, and they suit her perfectly!!

A customer found this lovely piece of ancient rock on holiday and decided to bring it home with her! It has a beautiful translucent sheen that she loved and wondered if I could make something of it. My problem was that it is very brittle and flakes easily, so a design had to be made that would protect the stone while still allowing it to shine!! Hopefully she’ll love it when she gets back from her latest holiday, and maybe she’ll have found something else for me to get my teeth into!!!

I have been trying to take a picture of the most amazing fire opal and diamond ring that I have in stock. It is such a rare gemstone, as normally fire opal is just orange in colour (with transparent and strong colour being preferred). This one however, has the normal colour flashes that you would see in “white” opal, within the orange body colour of the gemstone. It is like staring into a fire!! The colours are ever changing, and it hypnotises!! The camera just can’t capture it though!!

When a customer brings in a little pouch of “something and nothing” to the shop, it’s enough to get the creative mind whirring! The pouch contained a fire opal and green tourmaline, which she wanted making into pendants. In addition she had some old jewellery with damage and some stones missing, and wondered if it could all be incorporated in to the final designs. She now has two “something’s” instead of nothing!!

This lovely customer and her adoring husband had a Sapphire wedding anniversary to celebrate, so with her design input we created some beautiful triple drop earrings. We sourced some sapphires for her approval and fine tuned the design until she was happy with the graduation and length of drop. When she saw the finished earrings she cried! (With happiness!!)

This piece was made for a lovely lady to commemorate passed loved ones. We are always happy to help with design if needed, but she came up with this design that incorporated some sapphire cluster rings she had inherited into a brooch made from scrap silver she had. We were delighted with the result, as was she!

This project was brought in to me by a young bride wishing to wear a family heirloom as her “something old”, and thankfully in plenty of time as it had seen better days! The seed pearls ranged in size from 1mm upwards which had to be threaded onto a mother of pearl frame, but unfortunately even the finest of thread and most flexible of needles was too big to go through the minute holes. Problem!! After a few sleepless nights wondering how to solve this problem, it came to me. Fishing line!!! I popped around the corner where we have a fishing tackle shop and purchased the finest clear line they had, and it turned out to be perfect. It was fine enough to go through the holes, but firm enough to not buckle when being threaded through. She wore it on her wedding day, was overjoyed and looked stunning, of course!!
